SUTTON HONORED BY PEERS AT SEOPA CONFERENCE

JOHNSON CITY, TN -- Keith "Catfish" Sutton earned a standing ovation and liberal use of the word "legend" from his peers in the outdoor writing community Saturday, emerging as the big winner at the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association's annual awards banquet.

Sutton received Bass Pro Shops' "Pass It On" award, was formally inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, and picked up five trophies in SEOPA's Excellence In Craft competition, sponsored by Chevrolet. Sutton’s wins came in the electronic publication, outdoor book, outdoor photograph and daily newspaper categories.

Other multiple award winners included Jim Casada, whose The Literature of Turkey Hunting was named both best book and best outdoor entrepreneur project, Jim Ferguson, whose Revolution with Jim and Trav show won for best audio program, and Jim Spencer, whose honors included the Sharon Rushton Award, given for outstanding communication related to youth in the outdoors.

The banquet capped SEOPA's 2012 conference, which brings together many of the nation's best writers and broadcasters as well as many outdoor manufacturers, organizations, agencies and CVBs.
