Brandon Butler is an award-winning outdoor writer from Fayette, Mo. In his
relatively young career, Butler has accomplished much. His work has been published in
more than a dozen magazines, and his weekly column, “ Driftwood Outdoors,” runs in 10
newspapers.
“ My official emergence in the outdoor communications industry began in September
of 2006 with a simple, weekly newspaper column in the Herald-Times in Bloomington,
Ind.,” said Butler. “ The column rapidly expanded into numerous surrounding markets,
thus founding what I’ m proud to consider a thriving career, today.”
After six years of corporate experience in the auto parts and pharmaceutical
industries, Butler realized that if was to be truly happy, he needed to find work related
to the outdoors. In 2008, Butler joined the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as
Governor Mitch Daniels’ liaison. “ I eventually transitioned to the role of Public Affairs
Specialist and staff writer of Outdoor Indiana magazine,” Butler said. “ After two years, I
left to join the staff of Battenfeld Technologies, Inc., as marketing manager.” Butler went
on to say how much he loves his work with Battenfeld and how fortunate he is to make
his living in the outdoor industry.
Butler belongs to nearly a dozen communications and conservation groups and tries
to actively participate in all of them to some degree. Learn more about Brandon Butler
