Spouse Tours

In and Around Oxford

While there are numerous interesting things to see and fun things to do in and around Oxford, (like a visit to William Faulkner's beloved Rowan Oak), the official spouse tours are listed below. If you have not already signed up, please send an e-mail to Lisa Snuggs at [email protected] today!

Thursday, October 24 - 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Celebration Village - Enjoy a visit to Tupelo to attend an annual craft fair that serves as a Hospice fundraiser followed by lunch hosted by Martha Dale at her home. Carpools will be arranged for this trip:

8 a.m. - Depart from the Hampton Inn (Complimentary Breakfast available at the hotels)
8:50 - Arrive at Celebration Station
12:30 p.m. - Depart Celebration Station
12:40 - Arrive at the Dale residence in Tupelo
2:00 - Depart Tupelo for Oxford
3:00 - Arrive Oxford
4:30 - "Oh, Mr. Faulkner, Do You Write?" followed by hospitality and the awards dinner.

Friday, October 25 - 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. (The bus leaves the Oxford Center at 1:35 p.m.)

Ol’ Miss Campus Landscaping Walking Tour with Jeff McManus - Take a ride on one of Oxford’s double-decker buses to and from the University, seeing important historical places in and around Oxford along the way. On campus, you’ll enjoy a one-hour walking tour with horticulturalist Jeff McManus. Then, it’s on to the Visitor's Center for dessert and an optional stroll around the square before returning to the Oxford Conference Center.

Some spouses have already signed up for the Celebration Village trip but we need a headcount for the campus tour as well.

Saturday, October 26

Shooting Day - Whether you want to shoot or not, The IcIvor Shooting facility is located on the edge of the Charles Ray Nix Wildlife Management Area near Sardis and offers beautiful scenery and safe walking spaces. Should you choose to stay in Oxford, we encourage you to revisit the square.
